Ayurveda is an anscient Indian medical science.
As per definition given in the resent circular of standardization of non clinical ayurvedic terminologies,Ayurveda is the science and knowlege of life which describes all substances of universe in terms of their being beneficial ,harmful, pleasant and unpleasant to life.

Ayurveda helps to achieve health not only by removing diseases but also by guiding for how to live a disease free life style.

In Ayurveda classics concept of  health is described first and foremost in 1st chapter of sutrastan of Charak samhita. In fact the name of adhyay itself suggest that  ayurved is science of life of knowoledge of longevity,in words "Deerghanjeeveeteey adhyay" I.e. Deergha

Ayurveda provides the knowledge of diseases, etiology, therapeutics, for both, the healthy and for sick. Triphorismic continuity for time immemorial and virtuous knowledge which was known to Lord Bramha.
Ayurveda is that which deals with Triformis of good, bad, blissful and sorrowful life and about what is wholesome and unwholesome for it, longevity..

Ayurveda defines Ayu i.e. span of life viz the continuous combination of satva( mind),atma( soul),sharir( body) and indriya(senses). In this way physical health will be restored with mental health then and then only one knows healthy completely in all means.

Ayu can catagarises on quality basis as dukhayu ( happy life), dukhayu ( unhappy life),Hitayu( positive Life) in harmony with self and surroundings influences individual as well as the community.

Ayu is the four dimentional concept to achieve the four fundamental instincts of life those are Dharma ( virtue),artha( wealth)kaam( gratification),and moksa( emancipation).while diseases are destroyers of it.
Ayu means the anuvritti ( continuity of chetana , consciousness),b chetana nivritti,)livejeevita, bonding with the body( anubandh) and substance of life.
Ayu implies the conjunction of physical body, senses mind, and soul and known by the synonym Dhari that which sustains, jivit that which live, nityah that which is continuum and anubandh that which is indipendent.or link between present lifea future life.

Ayurveda thoroughly describes presentation of health with excellent medicines as well as healthy food, good positive, thinking, good habits, healthy environment etc. This can be achieved by Swasthya Rakshanam.which is the prime motto of Ayurveda Shastra.

Hear Swastha word composed of two words swa means self ,own and stha means stable steady thus Swastha denotes self abiding, being it ones natural or prakritik state, one who is in it has own norms, one who enjoy normal health is the Swastha, healthy in true means.
